They say "Don't judge a book by its cover," but it sure makes an important first impression when trying to stand out in a jungle of printed material. Once you have gotten your readers' attention, you need to keep it by providing an appropriate layout to facilitate reading and functionality.

Covers That Sell at Thumbnail Size
A book cover design has to work on a shelf and as a tiny image online. I sketch for both. I test contrast, title legibility, and one clear focal point. No clutter.
That’s true for a novel, a non-fiction title, or an art magazine cover. If it doesn’t read at 100 pixels wide, it won’t get clicked.
Inside Matters Too
Once the cover grabs attention, the interior must hold it. I create clean grids, readable type, and chapter openers that match the cover style. You receive print-ready PDFs with proper bleeds and margins, plus packaged InDesign files if you need them.
How I Build A Cover
- Read the brief. You send the synopsis, audience, and 3 comps you like. I use them to understand the shelf.
- Sketch. I draw 3 to 4 rough covers by hand. Different concepts, not just color swaps.
- Pick one. We choose the strongest direction. I refine type and composition.
- Build. I create the final art in vector and Photoshop, set the spine width, and prep the back cover.
- Deliver. You get files for print and for Amazon/Kobo/Apple Books.
